Entry
Entry rules depend on citizenship. Choose a passport to see the requirement for that one.
Work and visas
The processing term is the same for all twelve catalogue categories: the how-to-apply page (evisatraveller.mfa.ir/en/request/how_to_apply/) promises that an application passes every stage within 10 WORKING days, while the visa-type catalogue itself carries no such term. The term field holds 14 calendar days — this reference keeps terms in calendar days only and converts working days by a common factor; the figure 14 is not named by the ministry. The visa catalogue and the electronic form diverge: categories E (education), F (temporary work), I (investment), M (marital) and T (medical) are NOT in the form's dropdown. As of 22.08.2026 the form offers thirteen other values — Entry, Tourist, Pilgrimage, Diplomatic, Service, Transit, Press, Family, Trading, Family visit, Tourist (Urgent), Driver visa, Tourism (diplomat's guest). The portal separately notes that certain visa types are issued to citizens of some countries only in person at an embassy.

Identification is mandatory — a tattoo or a microchip. The veterinarian certifies the absence of contagious disease, including distemper, rabies and external parasites. Rabies vaccination is framed as a choice between two attestations (given, or no vaccine administered at all), and the intervals "not less than ... days and not more than ... months" are left blank in the form: the guidance note refers to the vaccine manufacturer's instructions rather than to a fixed period — which is why the preparation-time field is empty, since no single value for this requirement exists. The certificate is valid for ten days from the date of signature. On the import permit, the guidance note advises checking with the Iranian authorities, so it is neither named as an unconditional requirement nor ruled out. Antibody titration, quarantine on arrival and banned breeds are not mentioned in the document. No source of the country's own on importing cats and dogs could be found, so the requirements are read from a document issued on the other side of the border, with explicit attribution: the British export health certificate (DEFRA/APHA) — a description of the receiving side's requirements drawn up for export from the United Kingdom. Some of its conditions relate to the United Kingdom itself (the animal's residence there before export, the country's status as free of rabies) and are replaced, when leaving another country, by that country's own equivalents; the values set by the receiving side, however, do not depend on the country of departure.
